With the iPhone just months away from being released in New Zealand, I’ve done a quick test of the Carpool New Zealand website, www.carpoolnz.org, and, surprisingly, the more-than-three-year-old interface seems to hold up pretty well on the little screen. See image:

Carpool NZ in iPhone

I’m interested to know how many users in New Zealand, A, already have iPhones and, B, are likely to make use of a carpooling website with an iPhone in the near future.

I can see it would be nice to rework the interface for the iPhone to make information easier to access and perhaps easier to read.

A client of ours forwarded us an email from China Net Technology Limited asking us if we thought it was legitimate. The email is purporting to be querying the breach of a foreign trade mark in China along the lines of this:

We are the department of registration service in ASIA  . I have something need to confirm with you. We have received an application formally, one company named “YingQuan Holdings Limited” applies for…

I looked up cnirc.hk on Google and discovered a previously (to me) unknown feature of Google. I got a nice little warning in the search listings saying: “This site may harm your computer”—thanks Google.

Anyway, to answer my client’s question, I’d say this is definitely spam.

Good news for Apple geeks in New Zealand—the iPhone is coming (without the need for a hack!).

This week Vodafone announced it has signed an agreement with Apple to sell the iPhone in ten of its markets around the globe. Later this year, Vodafone customers in Australia, the Czech Republic, Egypt, Greece, Italy, India, Portugal, New Zealand, South Africa and Turkey will be able to purchase the iPhone for use on the Vodafone network.

And I’m speculating we’ll see a new version of the iPhone at the Apple Worldwide Developers Conference in San Francisco in June.

In an exciting new development for us, we have submitted our first CD to the iTunes Music Store and it has been accepted

In the Company of You is Tina’s third album and her first since she lost her hand in a tragic vehicle accident several years ago. Tina is a very talented guitarist, singer and song-writer and I have often likened her music to something between Dido and Jack Johnson.

With a folk music feel, there is usually a message or story to her songs with some upbeat and happy and others a little more melancholic. All of them on this CD, I think, evoke a feeling of Tina’s recent life journey.

Check it out at Tina Bridgman - In the Company of You … and, if you can, buy a copy to support a wonderful Golden Bay artist.

Lucid Design hopes to be able to help more New Zealand artists promote their music and get it out to the world so we are pretty excited about getting in to the iTunes Music Store.
